This is my first case mod. Inside is a Gigabyte GA7VTXH+ motherboard, an AMD AthlonXP 1700+ CPU, SBLive! Value sound, Maxtor ATA-100 controller card, US Robotics 3CP2977 modem, 512MB PC2100 DDR, 20GB Western Digital HDD, 40GB Western Digital HDD, 10GB Western Digital HDD, and much more.
"Of course it runs NetBSD...." : TekRam S3PM-F/N Socket-370 motherboard with onboard Trident video, AC 97 audio, Realtek 8139B 10/100 ethernet. Celeron 500 @ 563, 320MB Ram, 17.2GB UDMA 66 Seagate HDD. Powered by NetBSD 1.5.2 + -current pkgsrc collection. And yes, all the hardware is 100% supported under NetBSD, right down to the VIA voltage sensors.
What to do with a dead monitor? This is the best I could come up with. A scene from the last level of Doom 2, rendered with a CardboardFX videocard :) Cheap LED lighting too. Visit afrotechmods.com under cheap mods-> doom monitor for more info (and better quality pics).
Constantly upgrading (ie: killing and having to replace hardware), my case doesn't stay closed for more than two days at a time! Currently the system inside is an Athlon XP1800, Shuttle AK31 rev 3.1 motherboard, 512MB of Crucial PC2100, two Maxtor 40GB 7,200rpm HDDs, Hercules GeForce3/Kyro2 (switching between them). The PlanetQuake logo was supposed to be the first of many, but I started school before I could do them. I also have a modded Logitech iFeel mouse which has a blue LED. All-in-one-piece water cooling system currently under assembly, with a 5 gallon tub and 3 foot bong cooler being added onto the right side of the case.
AMD Athlon 1GHz, Asus A7V, 256MB RAM Infineon, ASUS V8200 Deluxe, TV-Tuner, 100MBit Ethernet, Yamaha XG sound, 400Watt PowMax, Nec DV5700, NEC NR7800, 60GB - Western Digital, Front LCD, modded Drive Leds -->blue, also modded leds of IR-port and added some to the blue plastic front.
Lian Li PC60, XP1600 with ECS K7S5A board, 512MB SDRAM, Hercules Kyro 4500 64, Audigy soundcard, 2 x 20 gig drives, DVD and burner, Silver painted Digi doc and floppy, rounded cables and 2 led lazer lights, front device bay, bio hazard window etch. A word to the wise, use hobby spray paints, Tamiya is a good product for plastics, avoid auto spray paints or cheap hardware store products.
